World AIDS Day in Hong Kong

Published by bensonyeung

Aids is still a relatively silent disease in Hong Kong. Thanks to the relatively low incidence, a lot of Hong Kong residents will not know of anybody within their friends and relatives with the disease. World AIDS day in Hong Kong usually slips away like an incidental butterfly that flies by and leaves without leaving a trace. Hong Kong men are still boasting on forums on how they manage to make love to their casual contact, both male and female without using any protection. This is supposed to be their index of charm or popularity. Prostitutes in southern GuangDong are still consenting to offer sex without condoms. AIDS patients appear in local films, soapies and novels once in a blue moon. The local school children and teens still think only intravenous drug users and homosexuals will have the disease. Published numbers of HIV carriers are only showing the tips of the icebergs.
Just when you think this won’t happen to you, think again. Are you so sure?
